Dimraeth Woldroot the Path Guardian: where he is and how to spawn him

On the players’ account, Woldroot only appears while the end boss, which players call the Forest King, is active. He stands in a side clearing on the path to the Forest Throne, so a player who has already beaten the final boss will not find him by walking back in. The route players give is to take the bounty that sends you back to the Forest Throne and to walk it instead of teleporting past it. He is the target of the Uprooted achievement, and players tie him to Bounty Hunter and to the sixtieth skill point.

The route Tready posted, step by step

Tready, a player and not a developer, wrote this up on the Steam forum and opened with I’m seeing this question a lot. Place names below are Tready’s spelling. The strip is the whole route at a glance; the steps under it carry the words.

  1. Bounty Boardaccept Return to the Forest Throne
  2. The Sealed Approachteleport here
  3. Northkill everything, branches open
  4. Lost Guardianteleport point
  5. Woldrootjust north of it
  6. The Forest Thronethe final boss again, optional
  1. Clear the final boss once

The first step is Beat the final boss at The Forest Throne. The route is for the second visit.

  2. Take the return bounty from the Bounty Board

Go to the Bounty Board and accept the quest Return to the Forest Throne. Aniaran, who answers in two of the threads, describes the same move as picking up the bounty to redo the Forest King.

  3. Teleport to The Sealed Approach, once

Teleport to The Sealed Approach (it’s the point just south of the glowing quest area). This is the one teleport the route asks for.

  4. Walk north and kill everything

Head north killing everything as you go. Paths blocked by branches will open as you do so. Clearing the enemies is what opens the way; what to expect from the packs on the approach is on Dimraeth enemies, wolves and elites.

  5. Kill Woldroot north of the Lost Guardian point

Find and kill Woldroot just north of the Lost Guardian teleport point.

  6. Go on to the Forest Throne if you want the boss again

Proceed further and kill the final boss again if you want to. Woldroot is done at step 5; the second boss kill is optional.

What players say about when and where he spawns

Mudtek has not said how Woldroot spawns. Everything below is from players on Steam and Reddit, split into the two questions they answer: what has to be true, and where to stand. The first column agrees with itself; the second does not.

He needs the last fight active

Redo the bounty first

  • Aniaran, in two threads: He won’t spawn if the Forest King isn’t active. And, in the other: It won’t spawn if the end boss isn’t alive.
  • Giftzwerg fought Aelwynor before looking for him: so i killed aelwynor first so after i checked i wanted to go to his location now he will not spawn. Guiss answered Go to the guild board and pick the quest to kill the aewynor again. You need clear the patch until the Woldroot one more time.
  • Giftzwerg’s wording implies Woldroot could be fought on the way in, before the last boss dies, but Giftzwerg does not say so outright.
Where players put him

Four descriptions, two sides

  • Tready: north of the Lost Guardian teleport point, reached from The Sealed Approach.
  • Aniaran: take the leftmost path where the path diverges on the way to the Forest King, and in the other thread take the top left route into a slightly smaller clearing in the same area.
  • Simpatyaga: He’s in the same place as the final boss, only on the right side, lower down.
  • Tasty-Jellyfish, on Reddit: he’s in an offshoot room just before the forest king.

All four put him near the final boss’s area, and only Tready names a landmark. Aniaran’s left and top left and Simpatyaga’s right and lower down may be different vantage points on the same spot. Players do not agree on one landmark, so this page does not pick a spot. Where the regions and waypoints sit is on the Dimraeth map page, and the final boss he is found near is among the fights on Dimraeth bosses.

Aniaran calls the last fight the Forest King and the end boss, Tready calls it the final boss, and Giftzwerg and Guiss talk about Aelwynor. Keep these boss names separate: they may or may not be one boss, and the advice is the same in each case, to take the bounty and go back.

Why players want him: Uprooted, Bounty Hunter and the last skill point

Three things hang on Woldroot. The first is on Steam; the other two are what players report.

WhatWhat it involvesWhere it is uncertain
UprootedA Steam achievement named for killing him. Its description is in the bars below.Nothing: the achievement names him outright.
Bounty HunterSteam asks for ten different mini-bosses. Players count him as the tenth: Ok I got 9, apparently there is a bug with 10 WorldRoot The Path Guardian. I don’t see him on the map or in the world.Mudtek has not said which enemies count. One Reddit player reached ten by counting the Forest Throne as two, and was told the missing one was Woldroot.
The last skill pointPlayers expect about 60 points at level 25. tSygna: I’ve beaten the final boss and the other 9, but don’t see this final boss for the last 60th skill point.A rule as reported by players, not a documented rule. See below.
  1. Uprooted Defeat Woldroot the Path Guardian8.1%
  2. Bounty Hunter Defeat 10 different mini-bosses1.7%

All 37 achievements are on Dimraeth achievements. The route assumes the story is finished: the quest order of the opening hours is on the Dimraeth walkthrough, and how bounties and deed tiers work is on Dimraeth endgame and deeds.

The last skill point is a player report

Mudtek has not published a total. A player on the Steam forum, Jadediah, relays this from a developer on Reddit: EA will have a level cap of 25 with about 60 available skill points. Jadediah does not link the Reddit post and is not sure the figure is exact. What other players add:

WhoWhat they say
TreadyHedged: I’m thinking that you’re probably missing a few mini-bosses. Then The first time you defeat one you get +1 skill point.
JadediahYou can get up to 60 skill points between leveling and killing each of the formidable foes that are available.
HyoushiI have 60 skill points. Haven’t seen higher than that yet.
iiceI killed 10 bosses so I should have 60 skill points but somehow I only have 59. No reply names a cause.
Arnoux59 cant find last mini boss lol
A Reddit posterReports 59 in single player after clearing every boss at deed 3 apart from the final boss and the corrupted tree (cleared at deed 2); the reply names Woldroot as the missing one.

Players separately report +1 for a first mini-boss kill and totals near 60, and Zhun’s guide describes points per level as well. None of that establishes that Woldroot is always the last point. How points come from levels is on Dimraeth skill tree and Dimraeth leveling; the cap is level 25.

Bounty Hunter still not unlocking: a checklist

Every item is what a named player reported on Reddit or Steam. Go down the list before you redo a boss rush.

Check whether Woldroot is your missing killA Reddit poster had cleared every boss at deed 3 apart from the final boss and the corrupted tree, and still had no achievement. The answer they got: You’re missing Woldroot, he’s in an offshoot room just before the forest king. Steam forum players tSygna and guyferd_86 report the same gap after the final boss. The route is at the top of this page.
One player says the kill has to be yoursOne Reddit player had ten bosses across two worlds and no achievement. Another, Impressive_Bee_9020, wrote that if you’re dead and an ally kills the boss, the kill doesn’t count for you. That is one player’s finding after a friend played along; Mudtek has not confirmed it. If you play with friends, see Dimraeth co-op.
Two players say bounty level 3 needs the final bossA player whose bounties stopped at level 2 was told You have to kill the final boss to unlock level 3, and another said I think they uncap after defeating the last boss. A Hard-mode reviewer describes it as After beating the final boss, you unlock Bounties at the Deed board in the Guild. Read against the level cap thread, where the player had cleared the boss bounties several times without having beaten the final boss, the reviewer’s line is about what the final boss opens up, not whether bounties exist at all.
One reviewer says a boss must be found before its bounty appearsThe same reviewer: you must first find and kill the mini-bosses before they are available though. On that account a bounty only exists once you have killed the boss, so a missing entry points to a boss you have not killed yet. tSygna counted the board: I have 8 bounty quests right now.
One player reports a wait before a bounty can be re-takenA Reddit poster: It’s pretty annoying having to wait 20 - 30 minutes for a day to finish just to accept a new bounty. The poster added that resting did not skip the day, and the only way to skip it is by sleeping on a tent but you can only sleep at night. The Hard-mode reviewer mentions There is a 3-day timer on Bounties for each boss; whether that is the same wait as the three in-game days in Tready’s recovery is not stated.

The ten: one player’s list, then a second

These are two players’ own boss lists, not an official one. tSygna posted one while stuck on 57 points; Saint Raikorius posted another in a different thread, next to I’m missing two out of the 10 bounties that aren’t the final boss. Names are as each player typed them; where they differ, it is open whether the two names are one boss. In tSygna’s thread Forceous asked There is 11 bosses in the game, how many did you defeat?, and tSygna asked whether that meant eleven including the final boss, that is ten mini-bosses plus it.

#tSygna’s listOn Saint Raikorius’s list?
1The Corrupted Beast ReturnsNot by that name; the other list has Corrupted Treant
2Droop KingYes
3Corrupted Droop KingNo
4SmashmouthYes
5GotburgYes
6High PriestessYes
7Hoard KingYes
8Alpha WolfYes
9Not named by tSygnaThe other list has Briarheart instead
10WorldRoot The Path Guardian (Woldroot)Not named: the list has eight and two are missing
Outside the tenThe final boss, counted separatelyAlso kept out of the ten

Neither list contains the goblin king, whom the Reddit player in the ally-kill fix names as the last boss they re-killed, so treat both lists as partial. The goblin king, the treant quest and the alpha wolf are covered on Dimraeth bosses. tSygna does not name the ninth.

What is not documented yet

  • Mudtek has not said whether Woldroot’s spawn rule is intended. One player wrote that there is apparently a bug; the replies in the other threads are workarounds.
  • Mudtek has not said which enemies count toward Bounty Hunter, or whether each first kill really pays a skill point.
  • Map positions for Lost Guardian, The Sealed Approach and Forest Path Overlook; Tready gives only their order in his route.
  • Spelling: Steam and Reddit players write Woldroot, matching the achievement; one thread title writes WorldRoot. Both are the same boss.
