Dimraeth map and regions

The Dimraeth Early Access map is one open world without loading screens. You start in the Lost Caverns, reach Earlwood Village, and push out through the farmlands into the Wildwood Forest; the Early Access update expanded the Wildwood and added the Goblin Caves. Waypoints are how you get around, and teleporting to one costs nothing.

The regions in the Early Access build

This is the whole list the sources name. The store page describes the starter region like this:

a complete starter region (TheLostCaverns through Earlwood Village and into the Wildwood Forest)

Mudtek. From the Early Access section of the Dimraeth Steam store page

Two new regions: The expanded Wildwood forest and the Goblin Caves

Mudtek. From the Early Access patch notes, Steam announcement: Trailer, EA Content Update, Localisation and much more!

RegionStatusWhat the sources say
The Lost CavernsStarter areaThe first stop on the store’s description of the starter region. jonplaysgames’ recording of the Early Access opening goes from the caverns to the monstrous droop, and only then to the Sanctum.
Earlwood VillageHub townThe first town. Game Director Phillip’s early devlog places it on the border between the human kingdom of Aldoria and the Eternal Forest, and in its story setup most quarters are sealed while the Guild Hall Quarter stays open. The Guild Hall board is where deeds and bounties are taken.
The farmlandsNamed in the demo, still thereListed in the demo announcement. A forum moderator points players here for their first Pinewood Planks, just north of Earlwood Village, and a developer names the bridge from Earlwood into the farmlands as a scene transition.
Wildwood ForestExpanded for Early AccessPart of the store’s starter region, and expanded in the Early Access update. The devlog describes it as many small domains, each ruled by a Forest King.
The Goblin CavesNew in Early AccessOne of the two new regions in the Early Access patch notes. Mudtek has not described it further; a goblin king is one of the bosses named in the achievements.

The farmlands are older than Early Access: the demo announcement listed The farmlands, wildwood forest and earlwood village. What the full release adds is only described in general terms, as new biomes and zones beyond the current Earlwood and Wildwood regions. For what else changed between the demo and this build, see what is in Dimraeth Early Access.

The order you reach them

Mudtek gives the order only as the store sentence above. The steps below add what one creator, SwoleBenji, shows in their start-to-finish route on the Early Access build; treat those details as their account.

  1. The Lost Caverns

The tutorial dungeon. Its boss is the monstrous droop, which is also the first boss achievement.

  2. Earlwood Village and the Sanctum

Town, the Guild Hall, and your base. The first building steps are on the Dimraeth Sanctum page.

  3. Map fragments and waypoints around Earlwood

SwoleBenji collects map fragments to open up the map and touches every fast-travel point as they pass, before taking on quests.

  4. The broken bridge

In SwoleBenji’s route, a bridge repaired by contributing stone and wood leads to a second area with a second town. The matching achievement is River Crosser, for completing The Broken Bridge Quest.

The first-hours version of this route, with the quests along it, is on the Dimraeth beginner guide.

Waypoints and fast travel

Once you have found a waypoint you can teleport back to it, and nothing is charged for the trip. LightItUpDan, in their beginner guide on the Early Access build:

There’s no cost or penalty to teleporting. This is by design, and it’s intended to be used freely and plentifully.

LightItUpDan. Said in the video LightItUpDan video: FIRST Character in Dimraeth? Start Here!

Pixel Rookie’s review describes the same thing: once you unlock a way stone in the world, you can teleport [music] it from anywhere, pretty much anytime.

You can also build a waypoint of your own, which is what the Wayfarer’s Gate achievement asks for:

  1. River Crosser Complete The Broken Bridge Quest12.1%
  2. Wayfarer's Gate Build a Waypoint6.7%

One placement tip from SwoleBenji’s route: when you put down one of these uh waypoint stones, don’t put stuff too close to it, cuz what’ll happen is when you teleport to it, you’ll get stuck in the object. SwoleBenji gets out by rolling or dodging.

Teleporting is also the fix for being stuck in camp

If you are stuck in your camp and cannot walk out, a developer’s workaround is to teleport out. Mudtek’s account on Reddit traced it to a tent placed with a campfire; that bug and its test build are on Dimraeth bugs and fixes.

Viakaros Developer, replying on the Steam forum

We have to debug internally, but if you teleport to a waypoint it will unstick you.

Thread: Steam discussion: Stuck in base camp...

No loading screens, and the stutter at the Earlwood bridge

The world streams in as you walk, so a short hitch at certain crossings is expected on lower-end hardware. A developer explained where it happens and why it should not catch you mid-fight:

Viakaros Developer, replying on the Steam forum

So because this is an open world map with no loading screens, scenes are loading and unloading as you’re moving - there are certain points like the earlwood bridge to the farmlands where that transition happens and at those points you’ll notice some studdering if your hardware is lower spec - the steam deck gets it just a little bit, but mobs and quests are never placed at those transition zones.

Thread: Steam discussion: Stuttering while moving through maps.

In the same reply Viakaros says a stutter every few seconds away from those crossings is a different problem, which they have seen come from the game’s player.log filling with errors, and asks affected players to send that file on the Discord. What else affects performance is on Dimraeth system requirements and Dimraeth on Steam Deck.

When the map will not zoom

Two forum threads since launch report the map opening fully zoomed in and ignoring the mouse wheel or trigger; one says the skill tree does the same. A forum moderator asked for details; no developer has answered either thread. The one workaround posted is a player’s:

Somehow, since I crafted and built a workbench and engaged with it it fixed the zoom.

A player. Posted in the Steam thread Steam discussion: zoom on map

If yours is stuck, building and using a workbench costs little to try. Other input problems are collected on Dimraeth controls.

Day and night

The world runs a day cycle. The only rate given in the sources is LightItUpDan’s: The day cycle is one in-game minute per one real second, so a full day would be about 24 real minutes by their figure. Mudtek has not published a rate. Night matters for resting at home:

Out in the world

Campsites

Rest at any time. Resting refills your combat items and respawns enemies.

In the Sanctum

Tent or bed, at night

Sleeping moves the day on and gives a rested bonus; SwoleBenji’s bed shows Well rested, plus 15% XP.

In the Sanctum, you’d use the tent at night to rest, but you can rest any time at any campsite in the world.

Wizardmanguy, a forum moderator. Posted in the Steam thread Steam discussion: How do you refill potions or rest at a campfire ?

That XP bonus feeds straight into leveling, covered on Dimraeth leveling and respec. The bosses you meet across these regions are on Dimraeth bosses.
