What is in Dimraeth Early Access

The Dimraeth Early Access build has three races and three classes, the Act I story in three chapters, a level cap of 25, a starter region running from the Lost Caverns through Earlwood Village into the Wildwood Forest, and repeatable deeds after the story. The eight races, six classes and 48 archetypes on the store page describe the full release. Mudtek puts the story at 12 to 15 hours; the forum moderator and players give very different numbers.

The build you buy, in Mudtek’s words

3 races and classes (Elf, Minotaur and Human) and (Shadow, Mage, and Brawler)

Mudtek. From the Steam announcement: Official EA Release, Feedback, and Thank You!

  • Our act 1 story which develops over 3 chapters
  • New content: Pets, Elites and Major Bosses, More Building, New Equipment, Skill Tree Overhaul, Difficulty levels and more
  • A level cap of 25
  • For the end game a repeatable deed system with progressive difficulties

The store’s own Early Access note describes the world covered:

a complete starter region (TheLostCaverns through Earlwood Village and into the Wildwood Forest)

Mudtek. From the Early Access notes on the Dimraeth Steam store page

The pre-launch update added Two new regions: The expanded Wildwood forest and the Goblin Caves and New pets: 9 unique pets with different abilities. The regions are laid out on the Dimraeth map, and the post-story deeds on Dimraeth endgame and deeds.

Early Access build against the store page

Most of the store page describes where the game is going. Its Early Access section is the part that describes this build, and the two disagree on the headline numbers.

Mudtek. On how the full version will differ, from the Dimraeth Steam store page

Two things have no Early Access answer. The store says More than 300 spells are available in total. without saying whether that counts this build. And before launch, a design blog said Equipment crafting is not in the game yet, but it’s something we plan to add later. Mudtek has not said whether that changed for Early Access; creators recording this build get gear from drops and upgrade it at the forge, covered on Dimraeth equipment. The nine race and class pairings the build does have are on Dimraeth archetypes. On price, the store says we plan to gradually raise the price as we add more content and polish during Early Access, with a higher price at full release; the numbers are on the Dimraeth price page.

How long is Early Access content?

Sources disagree by a factor of two or more. They also measure different things.

Official FAQ

12 to 15 hours of story

At EA there is about 12-15 hours of story content with end game repeatable content past that.

Shindaru, developer. From the Steam discussion: Early Access FAQ

Forum moderator

15 to 30 hours of main quest

Wizardmanguy Forum moderator, replying on the Steam forum

So depending on player speed and skill, the Main quest can take you about 15-30 hours.

Thread: Steam discussion: Duration?

Players and creators report shorter runs:

  • Two players on Hard: doing it on hard mode with 1 other person we got about 70% done. took us about 8 hours
  • SwoleBenji, for the first zone only: the game clock said it says it took 4 and 1/2 hours, but I am making a video and I did go AFK several times, and I could probably do it in about 2 hours at speed.

The moderator’s range counts reading, building and events between quests; the duo was racing on Hard; SwoleBenji is a year-long playtester. The FAQ figure is Mudtek’s own and covers the story only; deeds and bounties come after it. For scale, Mudtek’s playtest posts estimated You can expect between 2 and 5 hours of content in this playtest and later Overall, expect around 3–5 hours of solid content, depending on pace and how much you engage with bounties. Before launch Mudtek estimated Our rough estimate on the increase of content is around 4x what you currently see in the demo. What Steam reviewers say about value is on Dimraeth reviews.

What changed from the demo to Early Access

There has been a wide divergence between the features in the demo and what will actually be in Early Access that extends from even options before you load into your world.

Mudtek. From Steam announcement: Our official release date, upcoming content and demo notice

That is why guides and wikis written about the demo go wrong on this build. The differences Mudtek documented:

WorldThe farmlands, wildwood forest and earlwood village.Adds the expanded Wildwood and the Goblin Caves, with major bosses for each region

The skill tree change matters most for planning: node lists from the demo do not describe the current tree, which is covered on the Dimraeth skill tree page. What happened to the demo itself is on the Dimraeth demo page. The official website lagged behind too; asked why it showed only two races, a developer answered:

Shindaru Developer, replying on the Steam forum

Website is out of date. Post EA it’ll get updates it’s just been pretty busy around here.

Thread: Steam discussion: Hi, is the website not updated? Need to see all available Races and Classes

How long Early Access lasts and what comes next

Roughly we expect a 18 to 24 month window

Mudtek. From the Early Access notes on the Dimraeth Steam store page

Yes, but roughly it will feature the update schedule of 2 new race/class updates and then the Act II planned story update

Shindaru, developer. From the Steam discussion: Early Access FAQ

Neither gives dates for individual updates. The published roadmap graphic and the milestone announcements are on the Dimraeth roadmap, and which races and classes are candidates is on Dimraeth races and Dimraeth classes. If you are new, start with the Dimraeth beginner guide.
