Dimraeth equipment and armor
Dimraeth gives you twelve gear slots. Gear is loot, with random stats, and every piece belongs to a set. You salvage what you do not want at the forge and spend the result upgrading what you keep, up to +11 (the cap as two creators report it), gaining extra stats along the way. The Codex shows which enemies drop each set you have found. Your weapon comes with your race rather than from loot. And none of it changes how your character looks.

How gear works
“There’s 12 equipment slots, all equipment has random rarity, the stats on the gear are random, and they are able to be upgraded, which adds MORE stats; and there’s gearsets.”
Wizardmanguy, a forum moderator. Posted in the Steam thread Steam discussion: What is the loot system like?
The store’s summary of the Early Access build lists “equipment with rarity tiers and upgrades”. Revvy’s count of the slots matches the moderator’s: “this happens on every single piece of your 12 pieces of gear.”
Reading an item’s name
Revvy breaks down how an item’s title tells you what it is. Revvy’s example is an Enduring Erupting Imbued Charm:
| Part of the name | Example | What it tells you |
|---|---|---|
| First word | Enduring, Replenishing | The first stat, always. Enduring is stamina, Replenishing is stamina regeneration. The amount rolls randomly. |
| Second word | Erupting | The set. In Revvy’s words, “The next term is erupting, which is the set bonus.” |
| The rest | Imbued Charm | The item itself. |
Stats below the first one are rolled as you upgrade, so two copies of the same item at +11 can end up with different lines. Revvy shows exactly that with two Moonthorn amulets.
Upgrading at the forge
- Salvage what you will not wear
LightItUpDan takes unwanted gear to the forge, which gives the resources upgrades cost. Selling for gold is the other option Revvy mentions.
- Upgrade a piece to +2
“I like upgrading to at least plus two to get the first bonus stat as a solid starting point.” That is LightItUpDan’s rule of thumb, and SwoleBenji takes a piece to +2 for a new stat in their route too.
- Keep going to +11 on the pieces that roll well
Revvy: “you use that currency to upgrade to that plus 11.” Gear drops often, they say, but with twelve slots that is a lot of upgrading.
Two achievements, Tinkerer and Permanent Edge, ask you to upgrade a combat item. Whether a forge upgrade counts is not clear, since the game also calls potions combat items; both readings are on Dimraeth achievements.
Sets, and finding where they drop
Every piece belongs to a set, and set bonuses are where builds come from; some change how a specific spell behaves. Revvy’s Erupting set, for example, makes a fully charged Erupt leave pools of water. The way to farm a set on purpose is the Codex:
“If you go to the codex, at the bottom, you’ll find equipment sets.”
Larry Puss. Said in the video Larry Puss video: What I Learned After Experimenting With Builds in Dimraeth | Beginner Guide
Open a set there and it shows the bonuses and, “but most importantly, which enemies actually drop that set.” Larry Puss’s example is Convergence, dropped mostly by Dryads and Wildwood wolves. Revvy adds that a set only fills in once you have found a piece, so the list grows as you play: “This codeex is your best friend.”
Some sets come only from bosses, and the bounty tiers are how you farm them; see Dimraeth bosses. Which sets suit which build is on Dimraeth builds.
Weapons come with your race
Players answering on the forum describe no weapon items to find; as one put it, “your weapon is chosen with the race, which also gives the moves fiting with that”. Revvy: “So weapons in this game are race locked, meaning you can’t be a human with the battle axe”. LightItUpDan says the same: “Your weapon is race locked”.
| Race | Weapons |
|---|---|
| Human | Sword, and a crossbow (Revvy’s archetype screen calls it a bow) |
| Minotaur | Battle axe |
| Elf | Twin daggers |
Armor is not locked the same way. The moderator’s answer continues: “None of the gear is race/class gated, but some gearsets work better on a certain class.” The race side of this is on Dimraeth races.
Does armor show on your character?
No. A developer explained why before launch, and players on the Early Access build report the same: you keep the look you made at character creation.
“As of now, we don’t have visual changes based on the equipment that is looted. Basically because it’s 8 directional pixel art with 8 races and also genders it means that there’d have to be:”
“Then there’s also the different various item slots which multiplies it and each frame is hand animated.”
Shindaru’s figure was 128 body variants before multiplying by item slots. The eight races there are the full-release plan, not the three in Early Access. Mudtek has not announced cosmetic gear or skins.
Can you craft gear?
Not on any source’s account so far. Before Early Access, the Game Director wrote:
“We still want monster drops to be the primary loot path for the majority of the game.”
Phillip, Game Director. From the pre-Early Access blog Steam announcement: Prepare, Restock, Push Further
The same blog called equipment crafting a later, endgame addition. On the Early Access build, Larry Puss reports “But, at the moment, as far as I’ve seen, you can only get them as drops.” The rest of that plan is on Dimraeth endgame.
Moving a set to another character
Gear goes wherever your character goes, and a chest is how you hand it to another of your characters. Larry Puss joins their own world with a new character and equips a set they farmed on another one:
“So, I would really recommend crafting enough chests and saving your sets for different builds you might want to try and experiment with later.”
Larry Puss. Said in the video Larry Puss video: What I Learned After Experimenting With Builds in Dimraeth | Beginner Guide
Chests are built in the Dimraeth Sanctum, and joining worlds with different characters is covered on Dimraeth co-op.
