Dimraeth Guide

Dimraeth beginner guide

A Dimraeth start runs from the tutorial in the Lost Caverns to your camp, then Earlwood Village and out into the Wildwood Forest. The things that trip new players are early and specific: pick your world difficulty carefully because it cannot be changed, spend XP at a campfire to level, build a storage chest from the Sanctum’s build menu, and grab waypoints as you go, because teleporting is free.

Before you press Start

1Pick your class and look as if they are for keepsYour race fixes your weapon; your class fixes the other half of the tree. The forum moderator: As of EA launch, there is no way to change appearance, or class. They added that they did not know whether class changes would come; nothing has been said about changing race. Compare them on Dimraeth classes and Dimraeth races.
2Persona changes how you talk, not how you fightMudtek’s blog: Right now, our Persona options include Hero, Stoic, Scholar, and Joker. It biases which dialogue lines you are offered.
3World difficulty is locked once the world existsMudtek on the forum: You cannot change a world difficulty after the fact. Hard pays nothing extra, per the forum moderator: There is no loot or XP incentive for playing on Hard other than enjoying (?) the difficulty. SwoleBenji’s starter guide plays on moderate. The full picture is on Dimraeth difficulty.
4Make the world private if you play aloneSwoleBenji warns that other players can join an open world and take from your chests: make sure that under multiplayer, it’s a private game. Hosting friends is on Dimraeth co-op.

The first hours, step by step

The Lost Caverns: learn the controls

The game opens after a short cutscene in the Lost Caverns, a linear tutorial. In jonplaysgames’ recording it first asks for a movement type (normal or auto sprint) and teaches Perfect parry by blocking the moment an attack lands. Your first chest holds Lifebloom gear; equip it. Key bindings and the controller options are on Dimraeth controls. If the game throws you back to the title screen during this first cutscene, the fix is on Dimraeth bugs and fixes.

Beat the monstrous droop

The droop comes early: Blob Slayer (kill the monstrous droop) sits beside A New Start (complete The First Steps) among the most-held achievements. Basic attacks refill concentration for your spells, so keep swinging between casts.

Your camp: do not tear it down yet

A player on the forum wrote You get the ability to build the sanctum after the first dungeon. SwoleBenji’s advice here: you may be tempted to disassemble every single thing in the camp, but I recommend that you hold off on that until you get more storage. If you ever load in unable to walk more than a step from the tent and campfire, teleport to a waypoint.

Earlwood Village: talk to everyone with an icon

anytime you see a little icon above someone’s head like this, you always want to talk to them because these are quests. Inside the guild hall there is a shared chest to use before you can build your own; a player wrote There’s a chest in the right side of the guild hall that you can use for storage until you can make your own chests. Talking opens dialogue options with NPCs, per SwoleBenji, which allows you to build more trust with them, which will unlock better things, let them join your your little town. Where that leads is on Dimraeth romance and allies. One warning about the quest board: Also, don’t accept any quests from this board yet because we we get a quest to use this board. And if you accept the quest first, it kind of bugs out a bit.

Level up at a campfire

XP only raises your level once you spend it. You can level up at any campfire out in the world or in town. You’ll spend experience points as a currency to increase your attributes. Each level gives skill points for the tree. Attribute points may not be refundable, so read Dimraeth leveling and respec before dumping them.

Time Tardy Scout: head north and unlock the map

SwoleBenji takes this quest out of town and, before chasing it, says you’re going to run around and you’re going to touch all these map fragments, picking up waypoints on the way. Use the shrines SwoleBenji stops at too (These are shrines of encumbrance.); they raise how much you can carry. The regions are on the Dimraeth map.

Build a storage chest

Chests are placed from the Sanctum build menu; at launch they sat under Furniture, and the first hotfix gave them their own tab. A chest needs materials from a workbench, and the workbench needs Pinewood Planks, and the forum moderator says where to look: So you will find Pinewood Planks in the Farmland just north of Earlwood Village. You should find them most frequently in chests and on corpses. One player notes You need tons of chests, and they only hold 18 slots. The rest of base building is on the Dimraeth Sanctum page.

Upgrade your healing flask and gear

It’s in your interest to grab as many tender berries as you can early on to upgrade your health flask charges. Getting to the maximum seven charges for the starter health flask is fairly painless and makes a huge difference. Then Take your unwanted gear to the forge for salvaging, giving you the gem-like resources required to perform upgrades. Upgrade a piece to +2 for its first bonus stat. More on gear is on Dimraeth equipment.

Find spell books and do deeds

Glowing spell books in the world teach recipes you craft at the trainers in Earlwood. Between story quests, take deeds from the guild hall board: Repeating the deeds you can take from the guild hall quest board is also a fantastic way to farm XP fast. How deeds scale later is on Dimraeth endgame and deeds.

Into the Wildwood Forest

The story continues through the Wildwood. A player guide on r/dimraeth says a lost child found along the Dryad quests unlocks a Sanctum shop that sells the attribute reset: You’ll find the child if you progress the Dryad quest line. That player account is not confirmed by Mudtek. Bosses you will meet are on Dimraeth bosses.

The main quests, in the order players reach them

Steam’s achievement list names nine main quests. They are listed below from the most finished to the least, which is the likeliest order you will meet them; Mudtek has not confirmed the story order.

  1. A New Start Complete The First Steps Quest88.3%
  2. Help a Lost Elf Complete Time Tardy Scout Quest58.4%
  3. Village Hero Complete Village in Crisis Quest36.8%
  4. Timber! Complete The Corrupted Treant Quest18.1%
  5. River Crosser Complete The Broken Bridge Quest12.1%
  6. Blood and Bread Complete Bread and Blood Quest6.9%
  7. Death of a Tyrant Complete Hoard King's Fall Quest4.3%
  8. Corrupted Exploration Complete Opening the Throne Path Quest2%
  9. Heavy is the Crown Complete Crown of Thorns Quest0.9%

One quest not on that list, Maintaining the Defenses, could not be turned in at launch; the first public hotfix fixed it, so let Steam update the game. Other known problems are on Dimraeth bugs and fixes. All 37 achievements are on Dimraeth achievements.

Habits that save time

Do

Rest, teleport, sleep

When you rest at a campfire, the enemies respawn, you are fully healed and your rechargeable consumables replenish. So drink your flasks freely. There’s no cost or penalty to teleporting. And sleep in your Sanctum tent or bed at night for buffs and bonus XP. Once you have a pet, use it as a pack mule; Zhun: Every pet in the game comes with the ability to help you a little bit with your encumbrance. The pets are on Dimraeth pets.

Know

Dying, saving, pausing

Unlike in Souls games, your XP currency does not drop upon death, but the enemies do respawn. A player on saving: The game uses auto saves. On pausing solo, the forum moderator treated it as a request: This was requested earlier today, and the team has seen the feedback.

Timed dynamic events are worth detouring for; LightItUpDan says Keep an eye on the dynamic event quests that pop up as you’re out exploring. Even the gambling table in town runs on a timer, and a developer explained why:

Viakaros Developer, replying on the Steam forum

it’s a multiplayer game so don’t want other people at the table stuck waiting on someone else. You can sit out while at the table at any time if you need to read the rules and think about how you want to play.

Where to go next

Once the first character works, plan the next one: creator-recorded plans are on Dimraeth builds, the tree itself on the Dimraeth skill tree page, and what this Early Access build does and does not include is on what is in Dimraeth Early Access. The level cap for Act I is 25.
