Dimraeth difficulty: Hard, and whether you can change it
Difficulty belongs to the world, is set when you create it, and cannot be changed afterwards. Hard makes enemies tougher and, for now, gives nothing back: a developer agrees it just means harder enemies, and no achievement asks for it. If you want the game to get harder as you get stronger, deed tiers do that and pay better loot.

The rules in four lines
You cannot switch a world’s difficulty
A player created a Moderate world, loaded in and found it set to Hard. A forum moderator first suggested the multiplayer options in Settings; Mudtek then answered:
“You cannot change a world difficulty after the fact, so somehow the game created a hard world. Maybe there is a bug we haven’t seen.”
The player’s fix was to start over: “I just deleted and recreated the world. It worked that time tho.” So check the difficulty the first time you load a new world, before you have put hours into it. Your character is not tied to the world, so a new world does not mean a new character; what carries over is on Dimraeth co-op.
What Hard changes, and what it pays
A player asked whether Hard gives better loot, XP, rewards or achievements. The forum moderator (not a developer) replied:
“So hard difficulty just means the enemies hit harder, have higher HP, and attack faster. There is no loot or XP incentive for playing on Hard other than enjoying (?) the difficulty.”

On Reddit, a player summed Hard up as “it just harder mob!” and a developer account replied:
“He is right this basically is the answer right now :D BUT we do want to try more things it’s just step by step.”

So a developer agrees Hard is, for now, mainly harder enemies; the specific details (more HP, faster attacks, no loot or XP bonus) are the moderator’s description. In the same thread another player added “No achievement for beating the game on Hard”, which matches the achievement list on Dimraeth achievements. Mudtek has not said whether difficulty changes loot tables.
For a sense of scale, one player on Hard reported “normal mobs do 75 damage while elites do around 100 to 150 damage and bosses take out more than 75% of your hp”. The player who first asked about rewards suggested the game say so up front: “a short note in the difficulty description saying that Hard is purely for the extra challenge would be really helpful”.
Which one to pick
You want the fight, not the loot
- You are after challenge alone, knowing it pays no extra loot or XP today
- Your group agrees before the world is made, since the host’s world sets it for everyone
You are learning the combat
- Boss fights are not your thing; one reviewer advises “choose easy difficulty. I barely managed the first proper boss on easy.”
- You would rather add challenge later through deed tiers, below
- You are following a creator guide; SwoleBenji’s starter guide plays on Moderate
Parrying, stamina and the rest of what makes a fight easier at any difficulty are on Dimraeth combat, and the bosses you will meet on Dimraeth bosses.
The other difficulty: deed tiers
Deeds from the guild hall board have their own difficulty that climbs as you clear it, separate from the world setting. Mudtek’s Early Access launch post describes the endgame as “For the end game a repeatable deed system with progressive difficulties”. Unlike Hard, creators report better loot at higher tiers, and an achievement (Tier Pusher) rewards reaching tier 3. How the tiers unlock is on Dimraeth endgame and deeds.
