Dimraeth bosses

Dimraeth’s achievements name four bosses in the Early Access build: the monstrous droop, the goblin king, Woldroot the Path Guardian and Aelwynor, plus two quests named for a foe, The Corrupted Treant and Hoard King’s Fall. Mudtek added major bosses for each region and new elites for Early Access. Beat a boss once and it returns as a repeatable bounty on the Guild Hall board, which you can push to harder tiers for better loot.

The bosses the game names

Mudtek has not published a boss list. The names below are the ones Steam prints in achievement descriptions, which makes them the most reliable list available.

Two quests with a boss in the title

Timber!

The Corrupted Treant

A main quest, and the achievement for it is Timber!. One player reports killing a treant in the corrupted forest during a quest they call The Corrupted Beast, and SwoleBenji uses that name for the main quest that ends their first area. Mudtek has not said whether that is the quest Steam lists as The Corrupted Treant.

Death of a Tyrant

Hoard King’s Fall

A main quest named in the achievement list. Nothing else about the fight is documented yet.

Where these sit in the story order is on Dimraeth achievements, and the regions they are in are on the Dimraeth map page.

Major bosses and elites

Both were headline additions for Early Access:

New world bosses: Major bosses for each region

Mudtek. From the Early Access patch notes, Steam announcement: Trailer, EA Content Update, Localisation and much more!

The launch post lists Pets, Elites and Major Bosses among the new content, and the patch notes add new elites, new dungeons, difficulty levels. Mudtek has not said what separates an elite from a normal enemy or a boss, or how many there are.

The alpha wolf

The alpha wolf is not named in any achievement, but the fight is worth knowing about. One player wrote I defeated the alpha wolf got the message new pet unlocked, and SwoleBenji gets a wolf pup from a second, harder wolf fight. What those pets do is on Dimraeth pets.

Bosses come back as bounties

A boss you have beaten is not gone. It goes onto the Guild Hall quest board as a bounty you can repeat, and each clear at the top difficulty you have unlocked opens the next one. LightItUpDan explains it from about the nine-minute mark:

FIRST Character in Dimraeth? Start Here! Guide by LightItUpDan, not affiliated with Mudtek.

Once you’ve beaten a boss, they become available to you as a repeatable bounty.

LightItUpDan. Said in the video LightItUpDan video: FIRST Character in Dimraeth? Start Here!

  1. Beat the boss once in the story

That unlocks it on the bounties tab of the Guild Hall quest board.

  2. Take the bounty and clear it at the highest level available

In LightItUpDan’s words, Each time you complete the bounty at the highest difficulty available, you can crank it up a notch.

  3. Farm the sets that only that boss drops

Revvy says the same system rewards you as you climb, and that some bosses have very distinct set bonuses that only drop from them.

Before Early Access, Mudtek introduced bounties in a playtest announcement as a kind of deed:

A new Deed content type: Bounties. If you like repeating bosses and tough encounters, bounties let you replay them with scaling difficulty and rewards, so you can push higher ranks and earn better loot

Mudtek. From a pre-Early Access playtest announcement, Steam announcement: Weekend Playtest

That tier ladder is the Early Access endgame; how deeds and tiers fit together is on Dimraeth endgame and deeds, and the sets themselves on Dimraeth equipment.

Bounty Hunter: ten different mini-bosses

The last boss achievement asks you to defeat ten different mini-bosses. Mudtek has not said which enemies count as mini-bosses for it, so the achievement description is the whole definition on record.

  1. Bounty Hunter Defeat 10 different mini-bosses0.1%

Getting ready for a boss

Game Director Phillip’s crafting blog, written before Early Access, describes preparing for a fight as a loop: you scout a boss that leans heavily into a specific damage type, then you come back to base and prep for it.

Cook for the damage typeThe same blog says food gives timed stat and elemental resistance buffs, and that you cook to reach the right resistance.
Stock potionsSwoleBenji builds an alchemy table and crafts better health potions before going to fight bosses.
Spend boss drops on spellsLightItUpDan: The actual boss drops are used in specific skill recipes, too. Which spells suit your class is on Dimraeth builds.

Bosses on Hard

World difficulty is chosen when you create a world. A forum moderator, not a developer, describes Hard as stronger enemies with nothing extra for beating them:

So hard difficulty just means the enemies hit harder, have higher HP, and attack faster. There is no loot or XP incentive for playing on Hard other than enjoying (?) the difficulty.

Wizardmanguy, a forum moderator. Posted in the Steam thread Steam discussion: Hard Mode

If you want a harder boss for better rewards, the bounty tiers above are the route the sources describe. Playing a boss with friends works the same way; see Dimraeth co-op.

Known boss bug: Vanishing Strike soft lock

One player reports that using Vanishing Strike while killing the treant in the quest they call The Corrupted Beast can leave the screen black and the character unable to move. The player’s own fix: exiting and reloading the game solves the issue.

Viakaros Developer, replying on the Steam forum

Someone had this with the goblin king on the discord (don’t know if you’re the same person) - I will look into it

Thread: Steam discussion: BUG: Vanishing Strike soft lock

Until it is patched, avoid that skill at the end of those two fights. Other open issues are tracked on Dimraeth bugs and fixes.
