Dimraeth Sanctum: storage, planks and building
The storage chest is not a workbench recipe: it is placed from the Sanctum’s build menu, and the first hotfix moved chests to a tab of their own. Your first workbench needs Pinewood Planks you have to loot, and until you have chests there is a shared chest in the Guild Hall. From there the Sanctum grows with crafting stations, farms, production buildings and the allies you recruit. Avoid placing your tent with a campfire until a developer’s fix reaches the main build.

The first hour of building, in order
Mudtek has not published a building walkthrough, so each step below says who reported it.
- Loot Pinewood Planks
The workbench needs them, and SwoleBenji notes “You cannot craft these.” until you have one. See where to look, below.
- Build the workbench in the Sanctum
SwoleBenji’s next step: “on the workbench, you can now craft the planks.” Nails too, which they make from stone.
- Open the build menu and place a chest
Mudtek’s first hotfix says “Fixes storage chests to have their own tab”, without naming the tab. Before that fix, SwoleBenji went to Furniture, then Storage, for a pinewood chest. One player who missed it said the row of tabs blended into the bottom of the screen.
- Keep the materials in your inventory when you build
A player who could not place a third chest found the cause: “Alright i found out the fix, the resources were in the workbench so they didnt count.”
Where the storage chest is
Open the Sanctum build menu and look for the storage tab: Mudtek’s first hotfix says “Fixes storage chests to have their own tab”. Before that hotfix, players found chests under Furniture:
“You need materials made using the workbench but the chest itself is in the build menu in the furniture tab.”
A player. Posted in the Steam thread Steam discussion: Storage System
LightItUpDan said the same before the hotfix: “Storage chests are craftable in your sanctum by navigating to the furniture tab right away.” As for size, one player in the same thread says “You need tons of chests, and they only hold 18 slots”. Mudtek has not listed chest sizes or larger chests. The trailer frame below comes from the release trailer Mudtek posted before launch, so it shows the tabs from before the hotfix.

The Guild Hall chest
A player’s tip: “There’s a chest in the right side of the guild hall that you can use for storage until you can make your own chests.”
Another uses a crafting bench as a stopgap: “you can create a crafting bench and can use its item slots as a small storage box.”
What to stash first
Logs, stone and planks are heavy, SwoleBenji says, so they go in first. A forum moderator kept their bags light before chests by breaking down gear at the blacksmith and selling what they did not need.
Your first Pinewood Planks
“So you will find Pinewood Planks in the Farmland just north of Earlwood Village. You should find them most frequently in chests and on corpses.”
Wizardmanguy, a forum moderator. Posted in the Steam thread Steam discussion: Pinewood Planks
SwoleBenji adds the little holes in logs to that list, and says a thorough first loop of the area should leave you with two in your stash. The farmland is placed on the Dimraeth map.
Crafting stations
Stations decide what you can make. From Game Director Phillip’s crafting blog, written before Early Access: “Many recipes require specific stations to craft, so as you build out more stations, you expand what you’re capable of producing.”
The Workshop achievement names three of them: a Workbench, an Alchemy Table and a Woodfire Stove. SwoleBenji builds the alchemy table early for better health potions. Station crafting keeps going while you are away; in their words the bench does the work, not you.
- Tools of the Trade Build your first crafting station39.8%
- Workshop Build a Workbench, an Alchemy Table and a Woodfire Stove1.4%
- Patron Upgrade a facility to its maximum level15%

If that quest would not complete for you, it was fixed in the first public hotfix; update the game. Other known problems are on Dimraeth bugs and fixes.
Recruiting allies to the Sanctum
Some characters you meet move into your base, and what they sell and make depends on what you invest in their facilities. The store page puts it this way:
“Invest materials in your allies’ facilities to expand shop inventories, add new crafting services, and open more farming plots.”
Mudtek. From the Dimraeth Steam store page
Pixel Rookie saw quests lead to this: “Completing quests can sometimes eventually lead to some of these characters moving into your base, where they can help unlock more upgrades, provide different services, and even give you access to pets that can help you in combat.” The crafting blog adds that recruited NPCs craft spell books from monster and boss materials.
| Ally | What is reported | Whose account |
|---|---|---|
| Befr (Mudtek’s devlog spelling; Revvy’s captions read Bever) | Upgrade Befr’s shop at the desk in the Sanctum and Befr sells the Elixir of Rebirth, a respec for 500 gold. Revvy says shop level 1; a Reddit post says level 2. | Revvy’s video; a Reddit player |
| How Befr joins | “I believe the way to unlock Befr in your Sanctum is by rescuing a lost child.” | A Reddit player, hedged in their own words |
| Myrll | Has a companion trade menu where an unlocked pet appears | A Steam forum player |
The respec itself is disputed; both sides are on Dimraeth leveling and respec. Pets are on Dimraeth pets, and what relationships with these characters lead to is on Dimraeth romance and allies.
- A New Ally Recruit your first NPC to the Sanctum22.7%
- Sanctum Society Recruit 5 NPCs to the Sanctum0.4%
Farms and production buildings
“You build farming plots, plant seeds, and harvest them when they mature. Beyond seed plots, you can also build production structures such as wells and animal or monster pens.”
Phillip, Game Director. From the pre-Early Access blog Steam announcement: Prepare, Restock, Push Further
- SwoleBenji finds plants under “you just go to production and then farming” in the build menu.
- SwoleBenji also says timed quests give you followers who harvest farms for you, and shows one running a droop farm on their island.
- Industrialist asks for seven different production buildings. Mudtek has not listed which seven there are.
- Green Thumb Harvest your first crop26%
- Industrialist Build 7 different production buildings0.1%
Resting in the Sanctum
Your tent or bed only works at night. LightItUpDan says sleeping there gives buffs and an XP bonus, and SwoleBenji’s bed shows “Well rested plus 15% XP.” Resting at campsites out in the world works at any hour.
The tent and campfire trap
Players have loaded into their base and found they could not move out of a small area. A developer on Reddit named the cause and the way out:
“If you have completed the tutorial you can simply teleport to a waypoint to get unstuck. Still identifying why it’s always the tent and campfire combination causing this.”
