Dimraeth and AI: the dialogue question
The Steam store page once said some Dimraeth voice performances were generated with AI tools; the page no longer carries that note. Whether the written dialogue involved AI is a separate question, and no developer has answered it on the Steam forum. Claims that developers answered it on Discord come from players and cannot be checked here.

What is established, and what is not
The old store disclosure
Months before Early Access, a player opened a forum thread by quoting the store page and asking whether AI voices would later be replaced by human actors. The line they quoted:
“Certain voice performances are generated using AI tools and are thoughtfully curated by our team to ensure quality and consistency.”
The Dimraeth store page, as quoted by a player. In Steam discussion: Use of AI voices
Later in the thread another player asked “Has the notice about voice lines generated by AI since removed from the store page? I can not find it anymore.” Eventually a developer locked the thread without deleting it:
“Going to lock this thread for now as it’s from the change around half a year ago and there are a lot of automated flags coming up on people’s comments as it’s understandably something everyone feels strongly about, but will leave it up to preserve the context.”
That note refers to a change without saying what the change was. It does not confirm or deny, in its own words, what happened to the voices.
The store page now
The voice note is gone from the current Steam store page, and the page carries no other AI disclosure in its place. Its feature list and Early Access notes are summarised on what is in Dimraeth Early Access.
What players say happened to the voices
These are player statements. None is a developer post, and they disagree with each other.
| Player claim | Where |
|---|---|
| “I jumped into their discord and they confirmed they ditched the VA work entirely.” | The locked voice thread, Steam forum |
| “they just deleted all voices so there are no voices at all now” | The same thread |
| “Currently the voice lines are from a paid actor and the dialogue was not taken from AI.” | A launch-day Steam thread, presented by the player as what they could gather |
| “I heard they used ai to generate voices early in developement but they removed them.” | r/dimraeth |
The first two say the voices were removed; the third says a paid actor now voices them. They cannot all be right, and no developer post settles it.
The dialogue question on the Steam forum
After launch the question moved from voices to the written text. These Steam threads ask about it, and no developer has answered any of them:
- A Straight Answer
- AI Dialogue
- Is generative AI used to aid development or create in-game assets or dialogue?
- Does the dialogue feel AI-written to anyone else?
- -Very- fun but getting hung up on the dialogue
The opening post of the longest one asks “if a developer can respond, were the dialogues made with AI? If so, why is that not disclosed?” Another poster wrote “I would just like an answer from someone who has one.” It is also the most common theme in negative Steam reviews; the counts are on Dimraeth reviews.
What players say developers said on Discord
The official Discord is where Mudtek talks with players day to day, and some players say the question was answered there. Those messages are not public, so each line below is an unverified player claim about a developer statement, not the statement itself.
AI assisted the writing
A Reddit commenter says the same developer who said there were no AI assets also said “the dialogue usage is assisted on what the author writes”, which “falls under tooling use of AI”. The commenter says this was months ago and does not link the message.
No AI assets
Two Steam reviews say developers stated on Discord that no AI assets were used or are in the game now. One of those reviewers still believes the dialogue reads as AI-written; the other removed part of their review after seeing the statement. On Reddit, another player writes “Someone else said that the devs stated that they didn’t use AI”.
A player on r/dimraeth summed up where things stand when they asked “Is there any official statement regarding the use of AI in Early Access and/or full launch”. A first-hand answer would have to come from Mudtek where developers reply; the channels are on the Dimraeth community page, and who the developers are is on Dimraeth developer Mudtek.
