The Dimraeth skill tree
Every race and class pairing has its own Dimraeth skill tree, laid out like a compass. The east and west wings belong to your class, the north and south wings to your race, and the corners between them hold skills only that exact pairing gets. Each level gives skill points (two, in one creator’s guide), and unlike attributes, skill points can be reset for a little gold.

Read the tree like a compass
Three creators recording the Early Access build describe the same split:
“The class skills take east and west and the race skills north and south.”
LightItUpDan. Said in LightItUpDan video: FIRST Character in Dimraeth? Start Here!
“On the y-axis, you will find the skills that are related to your race. And on the x-axis, you will find everything that comes with your class.”
Zhun. Said in My name is Zhun video: You will theorycraft your character, and you WILL like it! | Dimraeth new ARPG guide
What sits inside each wing depends on the character. These are two characters described direction by direction; treat them as examples of the pattern, not a map of your tree.
| Wing | Belongs to | Human Brawler (LightItUpDan) | Elf character (Revvy) |
|---|---|---|---|
| North | Race | Sword abilities | Striking and pierce damage |
| East | Class | Crowd control: blunt damage and stuns | Stealth, shadow and bleed damage |
| South | Race | Crossbow, ranged skills | Ether damage, temporal effects, melee hybrid |
| West | Class | Damage skills and buffs, such as rage | Poison |
| Corners | This race with this class | Skills no other pairing has, per Revvy; hybrid nodes, per the forum moderator | |
LightItUpDan: “I noticed that north felt race weapon skill focused, in my case sword abilities.” Revvy guesses the same rule holds across races, with ranged race skills in the south, as in “the southern side will be that sort of like the bow and the rock smash for the minotaur”, and “your melee capabilities will be up north”, but they hedge it themselves: “I could be wrong on that, but I’m pretty sure that’s how it works.” Which weapon each race carries is on Dimraeth races.
The corners are what makes your archetype yours
Mudtek’s store page says “Combine any of eight races with any of six classes to create 48 distinct Archetypes. Each pairing has its own skill tree and playstyle.” (eight and six are the full-release plan; Early Access has three of each). Revvy expects most nodes to look alike from tree to tree, noting “There might be slight differentiations like instead of dealing pierce damage, it does strike damage or something like that amongst the races, but these are the big differences.” The corners are where trees really part. Of the corner skills they say “those are going to be entirely unique”, “skills that only this race combination are going to have”. The forum moderator describes them the same way:
“There’s also the hybrid nodes at the North West, North East, South West, and South East of the skill trees as well, which offer functionality to certain skills and builds.”
All nine pairings and their archetype names are on Dimraeth archetypes. One player objected that the race half stays the same whatever the class: “i noticed that race based skills do not change based on class”.
Inside a wing: small, major and medium nodes
Zhun breaks a wing into three kinds of node. Look at the major nodes before you commit points to a path.
After a major node comes a branch of upgrades for that skill: “Following every major node, there’s yet another ramification of modifiers that you can apply to the skills connected to that node.” Pixel Rookie put the same thing as “each skill you unlock can have branching paths that let you further empower it”. The tree does not always explain what a node interacts with. The forum moderator conceded “I agree that it’s not super clear, but the development team is aware, and working on a fix.” Two tips from Larry Puss help: the tree has a search, and “If you go to the skill tree and search for elf, you can find some really powerful modifiers to further improve your spell.” Nodes that mention Perfect Vanish refer to a perfectly timed Elf defensive. The forum moderator described it as “A "Perfect" vanish is when instead of doing the shield, your character teleports behind the enemy.” Larry Puss calls it the perfect parry; how the defensive works is on Dimraeth combat.
How many points you get
- Per level: two, in Zhun’s guide. Levels come from spending XP on attributes, explained on Dimraeth leveling.
- From quests: SwoleBenji notes that “sometimes by doing quests and and stuff, you get skill points”.
- At the cap: the Early Access cap is level 25. Mudtek has not published a total point count.
One bug to avoid: a player who managed to place more points than they had ended up with a character that crashed on load. The report and the developer’s reply are on Dimraeth bugs and fixes.
Spells: the tree is only one source
You fight with five spells at a time, and most of them do not come from the tree.
“Equip five spells at a time and build tactical rotations and combinations around your loadout.”
Mudtek. From the Dimraeth Steam store page
“Your race and class offer their own spells, while crafted spellbooks grant access to universal magic, provided you meet each spell’s attribute requirements.”
Mudtek. From the Dimraeth Steam store page
- Find a glowing spell book in the world. It teaches a recipe, not the spell; a player explained “the books are ruined books, the recipes you get out of that are for restoring the books”.
- Craft the book at a trainer. LightItUpDan’s captions name them as “It’s Raina for melee skills, Tamson for magic spells, and Miral for more magic spells, too.” Other sources spell the melee trainer Rahaner or Rahanner.
- Use the crafted book from your inventory to learn the spell, if your attributes meet its requirements.
- Put it on one of your five spell slots.
Bosses add more: LightItUpDan says “The actual boss drops are used in specific skill recipes, too, allowing you to craft them all instead of being gated to one and feeling pressured not to mess up your choice.” Which bosses exist is on Dimraeth bosses. Nodes can also change a spell you already have. Asked how a Human switches between sword and crossbow, the forum moderator answered “Alternatively, you can change Weapon Swap in the skill tree to be ONLY one type (Crossbow/Sword) or enhance its usage.”
Resetting skill points
The screen above has a Respec button. Zhun on the cost: “You are given a couple of free points to move around at first, but then it will cost you some gold.” A player guide on r/dimraeth adds “Rahaner inside the Guild lets you respec Skill Tree points”, and Pixel Rookie summed it up as “Respeccing is extremely easy.” Attribute points are another matter, disputed between sources; both accounts are on Dimraeth leveling and respec.
Anything from the demo is out of date
The Early Access launch post lists a skill tree overhaul among the new content, so node lists and point counts written about the demo or playtests do not describe this tree. The rest of what changed since the demo is on what is in Dimraeth Early Access, and finished point plans creators recorded on this build are on Dimraeth builds.
