Dimraeth system requirements
The Steam page asks for Windows 10, a 4th-gen Core i3, 4 GB of RAM and a GTX 750 at minimum, and a GTX 1050 Ti with 8 GB of RAM recommended. A developer says that minimum may need raising: the game now really needs a graphics card with 4 GB of VRAM, and whoever hosts co-op needs about 4 to 5 GB.

Minimum and recommended, as the store lists them
The store’s notes pitch the minimum as “Runs on most modern laptops and desktops.” and the recommended tier as “Designed for smooth performance on modern mid-range PCs.” Only Windows is listed; other systems are covered on Dimraeth platforms.
The graphics card is the real floor
A player whose laptop met the minimum reported about 30fps in town and lower elsewhere, with choppy sound, on the lowest settings. The developer’s answer revises the store page rather than defending it:
“I may need to raise that minimum as I think the GPU referenced usually has 2GB of VRAM but you really need 4GB of VRAM as development has continued.”
“For scaling in the future we do not believe any more resources will be required, but with all the stuff added the minimum has creeped up.”
Viakaros went on to recommend a refund for that laptop, and said “the truth is I don’t think the minimum spec can get much lower even if I spent a week on it.” Read the store’s minimum with that in mind:
The same developer also said the Deck holds 60fps, so the bar is not high in absolute terms; the handheld details are on Dimraeth on Steam Deck.
Hosting co-op needs more than joining
In a thread about a host lagging while a player on a laptop ran smoothly, the developer explained why the two machines behave differently:
“That makes sense that the client is great because they only render what's on their screen, while the host has to spend cycles on monsters, quests, events, farming timers, etc.”
“if your CPU is old it could cause this as some things in the game have to run on the main thread”
“also you need about 4-5GB of VRAM on your GPU if you check that.”
In practice: let the player with the newest CPU and the most VRAM host. A task manager can show all cores looking idle while the one running the main thread is maxed out, which is the case Viakaros describes. Who hosts, and what carries over between worlds, is on Dimraeth co-op and multiplayer.
Stutter while walking around
The developer separates two kinds of stutter. Work out which one you have before changing settings.
- Stutter at a bridge or zone edge
“So because this is an open world map with no loading screens, scenes are loading and unloading as you’re moving”, and crossings like the Earlwood bridge to the farmlands hitch on lower-spec hardware. That is expected behaviour, and enemies and quests are kept away from those spots.
- Stutter every few seconds, everywhere
“Now if you are not in those transition points and just always get stutter every few seconds - it could be your player.log file spamming errors and overloading the disk write - I’ve seen that happen before.”
- Send the player.log to a developer
Viakaros asked the player with constant stutter to come to Discord: “If you join the discord I can grab your player.log file and we can see what’s going on.” The invite link is on the Dimraeth community page. The folder a developer pointed players to for player.log is on Dimraeth stutter and lag fixes.
Crashes back to the title screen and failed saves are a different problem, which developers have tied to security software blocking save writes; that fix is on Dimraeth bugs and fixes.
