Dimraeth pets

There are 9 pets: Carrion Parrot, Moon Cat, Hound, Fangra Cub, War Cat, Blight Crow, Silver Cat, Ember Hound and Frost Owl. Unlock a pet in the world, wait for the message that it is available in Myrll’s shop, buy it there (50 gold for the two with a known price), then choose it in the Pet Pen from Myrll’s menu.

The nine pets and where they are

Locations come from players. If you have eight and are stuck, the usual missing ones are the Moon Cat and the Frost Owl.

Frost Owl	Southwest of Corin, north of the Over-run Shrine.	—
Moon Cat	Northwest part of The Shard Court, just east of the Golem’s Garden.	Every now and then gives you a large mana regeneration buff.
Carrion Parrot	Sold in Myrll’s shop once unlocked.	Waits for enemies under Bleeding, dives on them, and applies extra Bleeding stacks to the target and one nearby enemy. Weight 0, price 50.
Silver Cat	Sold in Myrll’s shop once unlocked. A player’s map screenshot puts it in The Ruins of Lost Lament.	When you take damage, grants a magic barrier that absorbs damage for 3 seconds.
Hound	—	A stun attack. The hunting dog on the pet screen (Cão de Caça) has a stunning pounce and looks like the same animal.
Ember Hound	—	Players tell a flame hound apart from the regular hound; it may be this one.
War Cat	—	Shown in the pets panel of Mudtek’s patch-notes art.

Finding the locations on the map

Players place Corin’s camp in Northern Earlwood, which is likely the Corin of the Frost Owl directions. The Golem’s Garden lies just west of The Shard Court. For where Earlwood and the other regions lie, see the Dimraeth map.

Two more pet spots players give, without naming the animal: in the northwest of the Beast-Occupied Ruins, and all the way northwest of the Over-run Shrine (possibly the Frost Owl). Spellbooks sit on the east side of the Shard Court and the west side of the Northern Lost Ruin; the spells players have placed are on Dimraeth spells. The alpha wolf that unlocks the Fangra Cub, and the other bosses, are on Dimraeth boss locations.

The map marks at least some pets with a Pet label, so hover the markers on each region tab.

Cats, owls and hounds

One player reports three cats, three owls and two hounds. The list of nine has three cats (Moon Cat, War Cat, Silver Cat), one owl and two hounds, so the counts do not match. The parrot, the crow and the wolf cub sit outside all three families.

One creator’s wolf pup, named Luna in his run (the name may be random), dropped from a second, harder wolf fight at the Beast Occupied Ruins and deals strike, bleed and chill damage. Bleed and chill match the Fangra Cub tooltip, so it may be the same pet.

How you get a pet, step by step

Unlock it in the world
Pets are found around the world. The Fangra Cub comes from a fight: beat the alpha wolf and it drops a baby version of itself. The boss bar reads Lobo Alfa de Wildwood (Wildwood Alpha Wolf) and a Inimigo Formidável Abatido (Formidable Enemy Slain) banner fills the screen when it dies. The wolves are on Dimraeth bosses and Dimraeth enemies. For pets with a known place, use the table above.

Read the new-pet message
A notification says a new pet is available in Myrll’s shop (Novo pet disponível na Loja de Myrll). After a boss kill it shows up behind the kill banner and the loot and recipe pop-ups.

Go back to Myrll in the Sanctum
Once you find a pet, you buy it from the pet store, which you reach early. Talk to Myrll in the Sanctum: the menu has four entries, Conversar, Fabricar, Cercado de Pets, Negociar (Talk, Craft, Pet Pen, Trade). Who Myrll is and what else they sell is on Dimraeth NPCs.

Buy it from the Trade window
Trade opens Myrll’s window with a Loja (Shop) tab and a Recompra (Buyback) tab. Pets are the icons in the Shop tab; hover one to see a tooltip marked Pet. The Fangra Cub and the Carrion Parrot both cost 50 gold and weigh 0. The stock grows as you unlock pets: an early shop may show three, a full one nine. If a pet you unlocked is missing from the Trade menu, keep checking: one player found theirs later.

Open the Pet Pen and choose it
Cercado de Pets (Pet Pen), the third entry in Myrll’s menu, opens the pet screen with an Escolher pet (Choose pet) button and an Sair (Exit) button. Bought pets also appear in a PET tab in your inventory, starting at level 1.

Allies who move into your base can also give you access to pets, so recruiting matters; see the Dimraeth Sanctum.

Unlocked a pet but cannot equip it

If the game says you need a pet pen, do not look in the building menu. The Pet Pen is an entry in Myrll’s interaction menu (step 5). Players give two routes to opening it:

A shop that opensThe fae shopkeeper’s store opens once you have collected your first pet, and you buy pets there. The game does not point this out, so it is easy to walk past for several pets.

A quest firstKeep exploring until you find an NPC who looks after companions, then run a quest for them.

What a pet does

CarryingEvery pet helps a little with encumbrance. Move items into the pet’s inventory.

SellingA pet holds items as long as you like, and you can send it off to sell them. An in-game tooltip suggests sending it to the settlement when your inventory is full.

Storage runsOr skip selling and send the items to the storage chests in your base.

A skill eachEvery pet has its own skill: the parrot adds bleed, the moon cat restores mana.

Pets level up, and a creator reports that his wolf pup deals more damage as it does. The pet screen shows a level and an XP bar: a new Fangra Cub starts at level 1 with 0 of 100 XP, and the hunting dog lists a maximum level of 20.

Picking a pet for your build

Match the pet’s skill to what your build already does. A bleed build gets more from the Carrion Parrot, the Fangra Cub or the wolf pup. A spellcaster short on concentration gets more from the Moon Cat. A character who takes a lot of hits gets a damage barrier from the Silver Cat. Which damage types each class leans on is on Dimraeth builds and Dimraeth classes.
