Dimraeth on Steam Deck
Yes, Dimraeth plays on the Steam Deck. A developer says it runs at 60fps there, with a slight stutter at the points where the open world loads the next area, and that the Deck can even host co-op. Valve’s Deck rating is not shown on the store page, and some players report controller problems, listed below with the one fix a player found.

What Mudtek says about the Deck
“Yes you can play on the Steamdeck, PC with controller or Handheld PCs.”
Shindaru, developer. From the pinned Steam discussion: Early Access FAQ
“I will say the game works at 60fps on the steam deck* with a slight studder at scene transition spots so the minimum is still not very high.”
The transition spots are fixed places. The same developer explained in a stutter thread that the world has no loading screens, so areas load as you walk, and at crossings such as the Earlwood bridge to the farmlands lower-spec hardware hitches; they added that “the steam deck gets it just a little bit, but mobs and quests are never placed at those transition zones.” So a hitch at a bridge or zone edge is expected, and by that account a fight should not start on one. The regions and their crossings are on the Dimraeth map.
On hosting, from a thread about host lag: “The game works pretty well on steam deck even when hosting so the hardware requirements are not that high”. How hosting and shared progress work is on Dimraeth co-op and multiplayer.
What Deck players report
These are players, not the studio. Each links to where it was said.
Frame rate and text size
“Can hit 60fps easily and keep it MOST of the time.”
St0rmwielder, a player. In Steam discussion: Initial Steam Deck feedback
The same post calls the text too small to read comfortably, and a reply says building works with the sticks and the back buttons can be bound.
From Steam reviews
“for Steam Deck owners, the game runs flawlessly.”
A recommended review. From Dimraeth English Steam user reviews (most recent)
A review that did not recommend the game reports the opposite experience with input: “I am playing on steam deck and it will not let me disable controller settings.”
If the controls do not respond
Two separate problems show up on the forum. Neither has a developer fix yet, so the steps below are what players and a moderator tried.
- Stuck on keyboard and mouse, or stuck on controller
In a thread titled for a docked Deck that would not switch to mouse and keyboard, ROG Ally owners saw the game flip back to the other input every time settings closed. A developer’s reading: “Something about the ROG must be registering to the game as keyboard/mouse input.”
- Turn Steam Input on
One ROG Ally player in that thread fixed it this way: “Hmm suddenly works now that I turned on Steam input!” It is a single player’s result on a different handheld, but it is the only reported fix.
- Try Desktop mode
Wizardmanguy, a forum moderator, asked the docked Deck player to test Desktop mode and passed the thread to the tech lead. The original poster reported the same problem there.
- No response to any controller at all
A separate launch-day thread describes a Deck where the game “doesn’t respond to any of the controller inputs, even if i use an external controller but does respond to touchscreen inputs.” It had no replies. Bind checks and controller options are on Dimraeth controls and controller, and fixes that do have developer backing are on Dimraeth bugs and fixes.
How Deck support came about
Deck work started well before the demo. An early developer update, signed by Joseph at Mudtek, reported “I’ve been testing the game on my own Steam Deck and have base combat already working” and put full controller support ahead of the demo. A later technical playtest focused on controller and Deck support, and the console reply on Dimraeth platforms says that work was done partly with Switch 2 in mind. If you are deciding on a desktop GPU instead, the developer’s VRAM figures are on Dimraeth system requirements.
